| The License Division is responsible for the licensing and appointment of resident and nonresident producers and agencies that are soliciting or selling insurance in the State of Arkansas. The Division licenses individuals and business entities as agent producers, broker producers, adjusters, consultants, surplus lines producers, third party administrators and both viatical providers and brokers. |
IMPORTANT NOTICE |
| The
Arkansas Insurance Department in compliance with the Producer Licensing
Model Act is converting the license types of agent and broker to the
new license type of "Producer." This change in our records will
take place the evening of January 28, 2010. Effective January 29, 2010,
if you were previously licensed as an agent or broker, you will now be
licensed as a "Producer." If you held both an agent and broker license,
both will be combined in a "Producer" license. There will be no change
to consultant or adjuster licenses. During the conversion, all electronic license applications and electronic license renewals via NIPR or LEO will not be available for processing until this conversion is completed on Monday, February 1, 2010. CATASTROPHE ADJUSTERS

Effective 7-31-2009 Arkansas Law requires all adjusters
coming into Arkansas to adjust claims as a result of a declared catastrophe to
register with the Arkansas Insurance Department. Public Adjusters are prohibited from adjusting claims in
Arkansas.

NOTICE: The Arkansas Department of Information Systems (DIS) was informed at the end of January 2009 that a vendor providing secure off-site storage for electronic records and computer files was unable to locate a DIS computer tape in its inventory. The tape contained information from criminal-background checks run over the last 12 years. Anyone wishing to know if his/her personal information was included on the lost computer tape can find out by calling 1-888-682-0411 or online at notify.arkansas.gov. |
