What is SHIIP?

SHIIP is a Health Insurance Information Program that provides free one-on-one counseling, education, and information to individuals with Medicare of all ages.

Counseling Services

If you are on Medicare, SHIIP exists specifically for you. We answer questions in the following areas:

 

§         Medicare Health Coverage

§         Medicare Supplemental Ins.

§         Long-Term Care Insurance

§         Medicare Advantage Plans

§         General Medicaid

§         Senior Referral Services

§         Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage

§         Retiree Health Plan Coverage

 

Educational Services

SHIIP educational programs are provided free of charge and upon request.  These programs are available for Individuals with Medicare and for Healthcare professionals.

§         Medicare Basics-Learn the ins and outs of Medicare, what your rights and responsibilities as a beneficiary.

§         Bridging the Gap-Learn about Medicare Supplemental Insurance, policies and plans available in Arkansas.

§         Medicare Prescription Benefit-Part D-Learn about Medicare’s new prescription drug program.

§       Peer Counselor Training-This training is provided for those individuals who wish to volunteer to be certified SHIIP counselors.  This training provides instruction in all areas of Medicare, Adult Medicaid, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Long- Term Care and Prescription Drug Coverage.
